The Beautification Committee develops and implements beautification initiatives that make the Southport corridor and neighborhood cleaner and greener and enhances its visual appeal.  The committee meets on an ad hoc basis. Please contact Lynne Wallack at events@southportneighbors.com for more information.

What are some of the committee’s accomplishments?

  • Along with SSA 27, the Beautification Committee was able to bring a new mural to Southport in Spring 2019.  The mural, entitled “Urbs in Horto” by Detroit-based artist Ouizi, graces the wall of the CVS building.  You can check out mural photos here.
  • The Committee has coordinated neighborhood cleanup days, as needed.
  • Conducted a parkway tree inventory that cataloged the neighborhood’s parkway trees. The inventory helped to understand the current tree canopy and identify areas to prioritize for new parkway tree plantings.

What is the committee currently working on?

  • Encouraging neighbors to adopt and transform street intersection corner plots into beautiful, native perennial gardens.
  • SNA is holding a pop-up Native Plant Sale to add much needed Native flora to our neighborhood.

Who’s on the committee?
