Southport Neighbors Association (SNA) is a not-for-profit neighborhood organization committed to helping neighbors get to know each other, connect on broader issues affecting our community, and improve our neighborhood.  We are neighbors committed to community.

Our history dates back to the summer of 1988, when we formed to give residents a voice during the fight for lights and night games at Wrigley Field – and we’ve since gone on to be a grass-roots community voice, tackling the impact of the Cubs, refurbishing Juniper Park, and enhancing the zoning code.

Our purpose is to: encourage compatible residential and business development; initiate and support beautification projects; and provide residents with neighborhood forums and information on timely issues and neighborhood concerns including but not limited to quality of life issues and historical preservation.

What are SNA’s boundaries?

We serve the Southport neighborhood from Addison Street north to Irving Park Road, and Clark Street west to Ashland Avenue. Please refer to the map to confirm your location.

What are some of SNA’s recent accomplishments?

  • Since July 2018, SNA has hosted the annual Southport Art Festival (prior to this the event was known as the “Summer on Southport” festival).  The Southport Art Festival is not only a great art fest and community-building event, but provides SNA with funds to support ongoing and new community initiatives. Be on the lookout for the festival’s 2024 updates.
  • SNA created the Corner Plot Initiative and has supported neighbors who adopted their ‘corner plot’ to create a small, attractive garden. For more information, visit our post about it: Corner Plot Initiative Grows.
  • Our beautification committee organized and conducted the first Native Plant Sale.
  • Began publishing a quarterly E-newsletter in January 2024; see below.
  • In 2019, SNA instigated the CVS floral mural.
