Keeping Southport GREEN after St. Patty’s Day
We all wear green on Saint Patty’s day… but the day isn’t necessarily very green for our neighborhood’s sidewalks and parkways.
So the day after Saint Patty’s day, over a dozen SNA members met at 9 AM to cleanup Waveland Avenue between Clark Street and Southport Avenue.
Trash bag in hand and gloves on, neighbors picked up over a dozen bags of trash, including discarded cups, cans, straws, bottles, newspapers and countless cigarette butts.
The cleanup was organized by Southport Neighbors’ Beautification Committee, which selected Waveland Avenue for cleaning due to the high level of foot traffic it receives from the Cubs and the Clark Street bars and restaurants.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to keep our neighborhood green, and please be on the lookout for additional cleanup opportunities!
